Todd is a graduate of the Bondurant Grand Prix Road Racing School in Phoenix, AZ. Racing experience includes closed-wheel, open-wheel, karting, and off-road motorcycles. Todd has competed in Regional, National, and Professional races with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), including World Challenge and Trans-Am. He is also an instructor/driver coach for High Performance Driver’s Education (HPDE) events in Michigan.
Todd resides in Chelsea, Michigan with his wife, Peggy. They have twin boys, Hunter and Landon, age 10. He is the principal owner of Total Performance Racing which is an extension of Total Performance Restoration, located in Saginaw, MI. Racing a 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28, Todd won his first Regional race at Indianapolis Raceway Park. After 4 more Regional wins and a points lock on the Regional Championship, goals were elevated to compete on a National level.
Todd began the 2010 season with his first National win at Gateway International Speedway near St. Louis, Missouri. In 2010, Todd had 6 podium finishes out of 8 races entered. He finished in 2nd place in the Great Lakes Division National Points standings. In addition, he had no DNF’s for the season, a tribute to the excellent preparation and support by TPR teammembers. Todd also earned an exemption for 2011 to compete in a SCCA Pro World Challenge Series event.
Team TPR built a new 5th generation GTS Camaro SS for World Challenge. In his first professional race weekend at Mid-Ohio, he earned a respectable 7th place finish. Todd also raced in 14 SCCA National races in 2011 including Sebring and Road Atlanta. He tied for first place in points for the Great Lakes Division Championship. He again set a personal best record at the 2011 SCCA National Championship runoffs with a 5th place finish in a field of 27 cars.
Building on the previous year, TPR increased its presence in professional racing by participating in 6 race events including the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, and the Mid-Ohio Grand Prix. The team maintained an aggressive testing and development schedule. Competitiveness improved on the track and the team overcame many hurdles on its way to 5 of 6 finishes, including an 10th place finish at Detroit. In addition, Team TPR development was again aggressive and intense with the help of Chevrolet Performance. In qualifying at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Todd was faster than the existing track record. Returning to the season-ending pinnacle at Road America, Todd qualified 2ndand earned his first ever SCCA National Championship podium finish. During the race, Todd set the SCCA Touring 2 track record with the fastest race lap at Road America.
Team TPR managed a unprecedented 17 race events in 2013 which produced 10 podiums including 7 wins. Todd earned his first and second professional wins and track records at Mid-Ohio and Road Atlanta in the Trans Am series. Events included the new Circuit of the Americas and Daytona.He also secured the SCCA U.S. Majors Mid-States Conference Championship in Touring 1 and the Northern Conference Championship in Touring 2. Plans for 2014 include Trans Am, World Challenge and the addition of a third 5th gen Camaro in the new Z-28 trim package.
